Coco Gauff Beats Iva Jovic 6-1, 6-4: A 'No Regrets' Performance Sends Her Back to the US Open Quarterfinals

Under the lights of Arthur Ashe Stadium, Coco Gauff delivered her most complete performance of the season, defeating Iva Jovic 6-1, 6-4 to reach the US Open quarterfinals for the first time since winning the title in 2026. The matchup lasted 1 hour 20 minutes. Gauff hit 18 winners against 15 unforced errors, while Jovic managed only 9 winners and made 30 unforced errors. Gauff won the first set in 33 minutes, then showed excellent focus in the second set, winning four straight service points from love-30 when needed. Her aggressive early-ball game has been refined through biomechanics work with Gavin MacMillan, improving her serve-and-return connection. Gauff now owns a 20-set winning streak and nine consecutive wins. In the quarterfinals, she will face fifth seed Mirra Andreeva, against whom she has a perfect 5-0 record. If Gauff wins the US Open and Elena Rybakina has unfavorable results, she can become world No. 1. The match against Andreeva will be a serious test of whether her 'no regrets' mindset can handle Grand Slam pressure.
